Step 1 – Go to the Virginia Secretary of State.
Step 2 – You may lookup an LLC by typing in the name or the SCC ID in the search box. If you are looking to see if a company nam is available, you will want to use the Name Availability Tool.
When looking up by name, you will want to type in a unique or use very descriptive keywords when selecting your terms.
Step 3 – On the results page, you will be able to see all the matching results and view a preview of the information on file such as the company’s SCC ID Number, Name, Entity Type, and it’s Status. To view the LLC’s information page, click on the blue text link under the ID Number or under the Name.
Step 4 – You have now completed your search and able to view the LLC’s: State of Formation, Date of Formation, Status, Shares Outstanding, Registered Agent, Registered Office, View eFile Transaction History, and if you are the owner or representative you may file forms electronically.
Reserve an LLC Name
The undersigned applies, pursuant to the provisions of § 13.1-1013 of the Code of Virginia, for the reservation of an entity name for one hundred and twenty days.
Step 1 – Download and complete the application.
Step 2 – Attach the filing fee of $10 and send to:
