Texas Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Texas Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You are able to lookup an entity by Name, Tax ID Number, and by File Number. When preforming a search by name, make sure to use as many keywords as possible when describing the corporation. The database will return all matching terms so if the terms are broad, you may see hundreds of results.

Step 3 – On the results page, you will be able to view all the entities including their Name, Taxpayer ID Number, and Zip Code of the Principal Office Address in order to help you distinguish the corporation sought. Click on the Name in the blue text link to view more information.

Step 4 – You have completed your search and are now able to view all of the information on file with the Secretary of State including the corporation’s: Taxpayer ID Number, Principal Mailing Address, Status, State of Incorporation, Texas SOS File Number, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Office Street Address, and you may click on the link on the bottom of the page to view all Officers and Directors.

Reserve a Corporate Name
Sections 5.101 to 5.106 of the Texas Business Organizations Code (BOC) govern the reservation of a
name of a corporation, professional association, cooperative association, limited liability company,
limited partnership or other filing entity.
Duration: An entity name may be reserved for a period of 120 days. A name reservation may be
renewed by filing a new application during the 30-day period preceding the expiration of the current
