Step 1 – Go to the South Carolina Secretary of State.
Step 2 – You have the option of either searching by Business Name or by Registered Agent. When typing in the name of the corporation, you want to make sure that you are as descriptive as possible to return the least amount of results.
Step 3 – You will be brought to a results page that will show all the entities that matched your keywords entered. When you have found the corporation you were looking for click on the light blue link text and you will be brought to the Entity Data Page.
Step 4 – You are now able to view all the information on file with the Secretary of State about the corporation including if it’s: Domestic/Foreign, Status, State of Incorporation, Profit/Non-Profit, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, File Date, Effective Date, and all previous filings that you may see scanned images.
Reserve a Corporate Name
Pursuant to Section 33-4-102 (a) of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws an applicant may reserve an entity name for use for a period of one hundred and twenty days (120) by following the steps below:
Step 1 – Download and complete the Application.
Step 2 – Attach the $10 filing fee and send to:
