Step 1 – Go to the Rhode Island Secretary of State.
Step 2 – The most popular way to search for a corporation in Rhode Island is by the organization’s name. You may also scroll down and have the options to look-up by: Identification Number, Filing Number, Individual, Registered Agent, Business Address, and Purpose.
Step 3 – On the listings page, you will be able to view the list of entities in alphabetical order. You will also be able to see a preview of the business’s: ID Number, Charter, Status, and the Type. Click on the blue text link (Name) in order to see the full list of it’s details on the ‘Information Page‘.
Step 4 – You have completed your search and are now able to view the corporation’s Name, Type, ID Number, Date of Incorporation, State of Jurisdiction, Principal Office Address, Registered Agent Information (Name and Address), Officers, Outstanding Shares, and be able to request all previous filings with the Secretary of State.
Reserve a Corporate Name
The proposed name of a business or non-profit corporation may be reserved for a period of one hundred and twenty (120) days. This application is only for persons intending to organize in Rhode Island to transact business. It should set forth the entity name to be reserved, the type, the name and address of the person for whom it is made, and must be signed and dated by the applicant or the attorney or agent thereof.
