Step 1 – Go to the North Dakota Secretary of State.
Step 2 – Type in the name of the corporation you wish to find. You may also search by the business’s ID Number. When searching by name, it is highly recommended that you type in as many terms matching the entity you are looking for as possible. The system will return all matching records and if your keywords are not unique you may be looking through hundreds of listings.
Step 3 – On the listings page, you will be given a preview of the entity’s: System ID Number, Name, Type/Status, and the last Annual Report form filed. In order to view all the information located with the Secretary of State, click on the blue text link that states what type of record it is.
Step 4 – You have now completed your search, you may be able to view the corporation’s: System ID Number, Phone, Type, Status, Original Filing Date, Effective Date, State of Origin, Nature of Business, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, and the option (if you are the owner) to generate an Annual Report to File.
Reserve a Corporate Name
If an applicant would like to reserve an entity name before incorporating, he or she may do so by following the steps below. The name will be secured for 12 months.
Step 1 – Download and complete the Name Application.
Step 2 – Enclose a check for $10 and make payable to the North Dakota Secretary of State. Send document with attached fee to:
