Step 1 – Go to the Minnesota Secretary of State.
Step 2 – Scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see the blank box where a user may be able to search for a corporation by name or by file number. If you select to query by business name, be sure to include as many terms possible in order to narrow down the results. The database will return all entities that match your keywords selected.
Step 3 – After making your selection the results will appear on the just below the search bar. While sorting, the Secretary of State provides a preview that shows if the entity is active, business type, the type of name. On the right hand side of the page is a blue link titled ‘Details’. Click on that link and you will be brought to the information page.
Step 4 – You have concluded your search and now have all the data about the corporation that is located at the Secretary of State’s office. All the information is public including; Business Type, File Number, Renewal Date, Filing Date, Principal Office Address, Statute Filed Under, State of Jurisdiction, Status, Registered Agent, Name-Holder, Name-Holder Address, and the Filing History.
If you are the owner of the corporation you are able to file an amendment or renewal and order certificates.
