Step 1 – Go to Maryland Secretary of State.
Step 2 – You may search for your corporation by name or department ID number. If you enter a name, be sure to be as descriptive as possible as the database will return all entities that match the keywords entered.
Step 3 – On the results page you will be able to view the entities’ department ID and name and have the option of selecting it’s: general information, amendments, personal property, and it’s current status with the Secretary of State.
Click on the link labeled ‘general information’ if you wish to check owner and registered agent information.
Step 4 – You have completed the search and are able to view the corporation’s: principal office, registered agent, status, type of stock, date of incorporation, state of incorporation, and previous filings.
Reserve an Entity Name in Maryland
Step 1 – Fill in the Entity Name Reservation Online.
Step 2 – Pay the $25 filing fee, and you will have the legal rights to the entity name for 1 year.
Register a Trade Name in Maryland
Step 1 – Download and complete the Maryland Trade Name Application.
Step 2 – Attach the $25 filing fee and send to the Secretary of State’s office located at:
