Louisiana Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Step 2 – On the Secretary of State’s webpage, you may search for a corporation either by: name, charter number, registration number, officer name, or registered agent name.
If searching by entity name (most common), you will want to type in as many matching terms as possible. The system will then do a search and pull every corporation that matches the keywords entered.

Step 3 – After making your search, you will be brought to the results page. Here you will be given a preview of the entity’s: name, type, and city of principal office. Click on the ‘Details’ button to view more information.

Step 4 – You have reached the Entity Information Page which lists all the data located at the Secretary of State’s office about the specific corporation. You are able to view: business name, charter number, registration date, principal business address, registered agent, status, and all previous filings.

Create a Corporation in Louisiana

Step 1 – Download and fill in one of the Articles of Incorporation forms below:
Domestic Profit – $60 – Most common for applicants setting up a business in Louisiana.
Domestic Non-Profit – $60
Foreign (For Profit and Non-Profit) – $100 – For all corporations located outside the State that would like to transact business in Louisiana.

Step 2 – Send the filing fee and the completed form to the Secretary of State located at:

Step 3 – If you are planning on opening a bank account in the name of your corporation, you will want to apply for an EIN (Tax ID Number).

Reserve a Corporation Name

Step 1 – Download and complete the Entity Name Reservation.

Step 2 – Attach the $25 filing fee and send to the Secretary of State’s office located at:
