Kansas Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 Go to the Kansas Secretary of State.

Step 2 – When searching the Database you have 4 options to choose as seen below:
Business Entities – Most Popular
Name Availability – Use if you are creating or reserving a corporation name and you want to see if it is available or not
Charitable Organizations

Step 3 – You may search any of the options but for searching corporations you will want to click on the top link. From there you will have the option to search by:
Entity Name
Entity Identification (ID) Number
Resident Agents Full Name
Resident Agent Partial Name

Step 4 – Depending on which type of search you do, (most common being to search By Entity Name) you will want to type in as much information as possible in order to have the results be narrowed to the fullest extent.

Step 5 – After making your query you will have a list of results and be able to preview the Name, ID Number, and Status with the Secretary of State. Find the corporation you were looking up and click on the ‘View Record’ button.

Step 6 – You have now completed your search and may be able to retrieve all the information regarding your corporation including the: Name, Formation Date, State of Organization, Registered Agent, and previous filings.
If you are the owner you may be able to file annual reports as well as make changes to the information listed.


Step 1 – Download below or File Online the Articles of Incorporation.
Domestic Profit – $90 – Most common. For the average person looking to incorporate.
Domestic Non Profit – $20
Foreign Profit – $115
Foreign Non Profit
Professional – $90 – For applicants with special certifications such as an attorney or medical physician.

Step 2 – If you are doing an online formation, you will want to pay the required filing fee at the completion. If you are doing a paper filing, you will want to attach the fee and send to the following address:

Step 3 – If you are planning to open a bank account after successful incorporation, you will need to apply for an EIN number. Takes about 10 minutes and you will receive your number instantaneously.

Reserve a Corporate Name

Step 1 – Download and complete the Kansas Corporation Name Reservation Form.
