Step 1 – Go to the Iowa Secretary of State.
Step 2 – Search the database by either the corporation name or number. The most popular way is to type in the name of the entity, but you want to make sure you type in as many matching keywords as possible. The database will pull all records that match your selected terms.
Step 3 – After pressing the search button you will be brought to the results page. Depending on how unique your terms were, you will see a preview of the entity’s: business number, name, status with the Secretary of State, and the type. Click on the business number to see further details.
Step 4 – You have completed your search and are able to view your corporation’s: incorporation date, effective date, filing date, expiration date, principal office address, registered agent name and address, previous filings, fictitious names (if any), officers, and the type of stock/shares.
