Florida Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – The Florida Secretary of State (otherwise known as SunBiz) has a few ways to search for a specific corporation. You can search by:

Step 2 – Depending on which type you selected, you will want to enter the keywords of your search. It is highly recommended that you type as much as you can to narrow down the search as much as possible to what entity you are trying to find.
Once you have decided your search press enter on your keyboard or click the ‘search now’ button.

Step 3 – After submitting, you will be given search results that preview the document number and show the active or inactive status of the entity. CLick on the corporation that best matches.

Step 4 – Now you are on the Entity Data Page. This is the official record of all information listed with the Secretary of State. This is public information that allows you to view the corporation’s: Document Number, EIN Number, Date of Incorporation, Status, Effective Date, Principal Address, Mailing Address, Registered Agent Name & Address, and the Officer/Directors.

How to Create a Florida Corporation

Step 1 – Download or fill out online of the Articles of Incorporation forms below:

Step 2 – If you are filing online you will be instructed to pay the $70 filing fee via credit card. If you are incorporating through a paper filing you will need to write a check for $70 payable to the Florida Secretary of State and send the document and fee to:

Step 3 – You can see that such a broad search as ‘florida’ would bring up many results. This at least gives you an idea of how the results are laid out with a preview of the LLC’s document number and active or inactive status.

Step 4 – As you can see from the image above, the LLC Entity Page has all public information listed with the Secretary of State including but not limited to: Document Number, EIN Number, Incorporation Date, Principal Address, Mailing Address, Registered Agent Name and Address, Member(s) (Owner(s)), and all filings.
