The California Secretary of State’s office provides a free search of all business entities that exist or are registered including but not limited to corporations, limited liability companies (LLC), and limited partnerships (LP).

Step 1 – Go to the California Secretary of State.

Step 2 – Type in the name of the corporation or the entity number you wish to search. If you are looking for a specific corporation you want to type in as much as you know in order to narrow down the results as much as possible.

Step 3 – View the selected entities and the page will give you access to view the corporation’s: number, date filed, status, and the registered agent’s name. Click on the desired entity.

Step 4 – Now you are able to view all the information regarding the corporation that is on file with the Secretary of State.

Step 2 – Attach the filing fee as listed above (made payable to the California Secretary of State) and send to: Secretary of State, Statement of Information Unit, P.O. Box 944230, Sacramento, CA 94244-2300.

Step 3 – After receiving a successful copy of the Articles of Incorporation on your formation, you must file the Statement of Information form to the Secretary of State. File Online or select the one that best fits the type of incorporation you made below:

Step 4 – If filing online you will be required to pay the $25 filing fee.
