Step 1 – Go to the California Secretary of State.
Step 2 – Type in the search box (as seen above) the keywords that match the LLC you are searching. For our example, we will be searching the term ‘ford’. This is a broad search that will probably bring us many results, in your search you want to be as descriptive as possible to narrow down the results.
Step 3 – As you can see in the snapshot above, the request pulled 147 matching records. It also gives us a quick view of the LLC’s: Entity Number, Filing Date, Status, and Registered Agent’s Name. Click on the selected LLC and you will be brought to the Record’s Page.
Step 4 – You know have all the information about the LLC listed with the California Secretary of State’s office. Your search of an LLC is complete.
How to Create an LLC in California
Step 2 – Attach the $70 filing fee (payable to the California Secretary of State) and send to: Business Entities, P.O. Box 944228 Sacramento, CA 94244-2280.
Step 3 – After receiving your official LLC in the mail, you will also be required to submit the Statement of Information within 90 days. You can either download and fill it in or fill it out online.
