Virginia Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Virginia Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You may either lookup a corporation by name or if you are incorporating, you may want to check to see if a name is available. When searching by name, you want to make sure that you use as many keywords as possible to narrow down the results. If you make a broad search, chances are you will be sorting through hundreds of matching listings.

Step 3 – When on the listings page, you will be given a preview of the results showing the entity’s: SCC ID Number, Name, Type, and the Status. Click on either of the blue text links (under the ID Number or the Name) to see all the information about your corporation listed with the Secretary of State.

Step 4 – The Entity Data Page allows you to see general information such as the business’s SCC ID#, State of Incorporation, Date of Incorporating, Status, Shares Authorized, Principal Office Address, and Registered Agent Information.
On the right side, you have options that will allow you to see more information such as viewing previous filings. If you are an owner or representative of the entity you may file an annual report or order certified copies of documents.


Reserve a Corporate Name in Virginia
The applicant, pursuant to the provisions of § 13.1-631 or § 13.1-830 of the Code of Virginia, for the reservation of a name for one hundred and twenty (120) days.

Vermont Secretary of State LLC Search & Lookup

Step 1 – Go to the Vermont Secretary of State.

Step 2 – At the home page for searching the Secretary of State’s database you may lookup an LLC by Name or by an Individual (Officer, Registered Agent, Director, or Member).
It is highly recommended that if you do a lookup by company name that the user types in as many terms as possible. Your query will be received and return all matching listings, so if your search is broad, chances are you will be sorting through hundreds of listings.

Step 3 – On the results page you will be shown a categorized view of all the matching listings. Scroll down to the section titled ‘Limited Liability Companies’ and click on the green text link of the entity that matches what intended result.

Step 4 – You are now able to see all the information available located at the Secretary of State including the LLC’s: Status, File Number, Type (Domestic or Foreign), Formation Date, Fictitious Name, Description of Business, Month of Year End, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, How it is Managed, and the Members.

Vermont Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Vermont Secretary of State.

Step 2 – Use the search tool to lookup a corporation by name, or you can use the search by individual by typing in his or her last name.

When looking up an entity by name, you want to make sure that you make your entry as unique and descriptive as possible. The database will query and return all matching businesses in the results.

Step 3 – On the results page, you will receive your listings in alphabetical order and segregated in boxes as: Corporation, Tradename, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), Partnerships, Reservation Records, and Registration Records. Click on the name of the corporation that you are finding in the green text link.

Step 4 – You are now on the Information Page. Here you may view all the data on file with the Secretary of State about the specific corporation including it’s: Status, File Number, Type, Incorporation Date, State of Incorporation, Fiscal Month End, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, and the Directors.

Reserve a Corporate Name
A reservation is good for 120 days, renewable twice. The owner of a reserved name may transfer the reservation to another person by delivering to the Secretary of State a signed notice of transfer that states the name and address of the tranferee.

Utah Secretary of State LLC Search & Lookup

Step 1 – Go to the Utah Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You may search the Secretary of State database by either the LLC’s Name or by the Registered Agent on file. If preforming a look-up by name, be sure to be as descriptive or unique as possible in order to narrow down the results.

Step 3 – When reviewing the listings you will be able to see a preview of the entity’s Name, Status, Type, and City. When you find your company, click on the light blue text link on the right hand side titled ‘Details’ and this will bring you to it’s data page.

Step 4 – You have reached the information page that has all the information about the limited liability company on file with the Secretary of State. Here, you are able to view it’s: Business ID Number, Principal Office Address, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, Status Description, History of Last Report Filed, NAICS Code, and the option to view Members.

Utah Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Utah Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You have a number of ways to search for a corporation, you may lookup:
Name – Most popular, when using this option be sure to be as descriptive as possible in order to narrow down the results as much as possible.
Name Availability – Use this if you are about to incorporate or seeking to reserve a corporate name. Allows you to check and see if the name you would like has already been registered.
Individual – If you only know the name of a person that is involved with the corporation, type in his or her name.

Step 3 – On the results page you will be able to view all the listings that match your search terms including being able to preview the corporation’s: Name, Status, Type of Entity, and the City of Principal Office.
Click on the link that is titled ‘Details‘ to view more information.

Step 4 – You have concluded the end of your search and able to view the Entity’s: Number, Principal Office Address, State of Incorporation, Registered Agent (Name and Address), Renewal Date, Employment Verification, Registration Date, Last Renewal Date, and the option to view the Officers ($3 charge).


Reserve a Corporate Name
Use the forms below to register a business/corporate name for one hundred and twenty (120) days.

Step 1 – Download and complete one of the applications below;
Used by entities formed outside the State of Utah.
Registration of a Corporate Name – This is not a business. It prevents the name from being used in Utah and is active from the date of filing till the end of the calendar year.
Application of a Business Name – This reserves the name for 120 days, it does not register the name.
Registration of a Business Name/DBA – This does register the name for 3 years as a General Partnership, Sole Proprietorship or a “Doing Business As” name for another entity.

Texas Secretary of State LLC Search & Lookup

Step 1 – Go to the Texas Secretary of State.

Step 2 – In Texas, you may search for an LLC by Tax ID, Name, or File Number. The most popular option is to preform a lookup by name and when doing so it is highly recommended that the user types in as many terms as possible. The database will return all entities matching your keywords so it is important not to make a broad search whereas you may be sorting through hundreds of results.

Step 3 – On the results page, you will be able to preview all the matching listings and in addition to their name be able to view their taxpayer ID number and zip code (of Principal Office Address). Click on the blue text link (Name) to view further data.

Step 4 – You have completed your search and now able to view the company’s Taxpayer ID Number, Principal Mailing Address, Status, State of Formation, Texas File Number, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, and the option to see Managers and Members by clicking on the link on the bottom of the screen.

Texas Secretary of State Corporation Entity Search

Step 1 – Go to the Texas Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You are able to lookup an entity by Name, Tax ID Number, and by File Number. When preforming a search by name, make sure to use as many keywords as possible when describing the corporation. The database will return all matching terms so if the terms are broad, you may see hundreds of results.

Step 3 – On the results page, you will be able to view all the entities including their Name, Taxpayer ID Number, and Zip Code of the Principal Office Address in order to help you distinguish the corporation sought. Click on the Name in the blue text link to view more information.

Step 4 – You have completed your search and are now able to view all of the information on file with the Secretary of State including the corporation’s: Taxpayer ID Number, Principal Mailing Address, Status, State of Incorporation, Texas SOS File Number, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Office Street Address, and you may click on the link on the bottom of the page to view all Officers and Directors.


Reserve a Corporate Name
Sections 5.101 to 5.106 of the Texas Business Organizations Code (BOC) govern the reservation of a
name of a corporation, professional association, cooperative association, limited liability company,
limited partnership or other filing entity.
Duration: An entity name may be reserved for a period of 120 days. A name reservation may be
renewed by filing a new application during the 30-day period preceding the expiration of the current
reservation.

Tennessee Secretary of State LLC Search & Lookup

Step 1 – Go to the Tennessee Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You can search for a limited liability company by using the Secretary of State to lookup by Name or Control Number. When using the Name option, it is highly recommended to use as many terms as possible to have the least amount of results possible. If your keywords are broad, you may be looking through hundreds of listings.

Step 3 – After entering your LLC description, you will be brought to the Results Page that will show a preview of the company including it’s: Charter Number, Entity Type, Name Type, Name Status, Formation Date, and Status with the Secretary of State. Click on the Charter Number to review all information about it’s existence.

Step 4 – You have reached the end of your search and now may be able to view all information on file with the Secretary of State including the LLC’s Status, Effective Date, Annual Report Date, Inactive Date, Principal Office Address, State of Origin, Fictitious Names, History of Filings (Images available for View), Registered Agent, Registered Agent Address, and the Officers.

Step 2 – Use the link in Step 1 to search for a corporation by Name or Control Number. If looking up by name, be sure to use as many descriptive keywords as possible in order to narrow the results as much as you can.

Step 3 – When you are brought to the listings page, you will be able to view all matching results your terms entered. The Secretary of State lets you view the entity’s: Control Number, Type, Name, Name Type, Status, and Filing Date.

Step 4 – Now you are able to see all the data on file about the corporation including it’s: Incorporation State, Duration, Principal Office Address, Filing Date, Effective Date, Annual Report Due Date, Inactive Date (if exists), Number of Shares, Viewable Previous Filings, and the Registered Agent Name and Address.

Step 1 – Go to the South Dakota Secretary of State.

Step 2 – You may search for an LLC a number of different ways such as by: Name, ID Number, and by an Advanced Search including: City, Filing Date, or an Individual in the company.
When searching by name – Be sure to include as many keywords as possible when doing your search by name. The database will return all closely matching entities to the terms entered, so if you make a broad query, you may be sorting through hundreds of listings.

Step 3 – While you are viewing the results, the Secretary of State gives the user a preview of the limited liability company’s; ID Number, Name, State of Formation, Type, and it’s standing (good or inactive). Click on the ID Number to see more information.

Step 4 – You have reached the end of the process and may be able to view all the data on file with the Secretary of State including the LLC’s:Name, ID Number, Formation Date, Home State, Status, Last Annual Report Filed, Type, Registered Agent (Name and Address), Previously Filings, and all Officers of the company.

Step 1 – Go to the South Dakota Secretary of State.

Step 2 – On the search home page, you can lookup a corporation by: Name, Identification Number, City, Filing Date, or by an Officer of the Entity (Director, Registered Agent, Etc.)
When Using the Name Option – If you are going to use the default search by name option is is highly recommended that you use as many search terms as possible to narrow down the results. The Secretary of State’s database will return all listings matching your query.

Step 3 – On the details page, you will be shown all matching results including a preview of the entity’s: Business Number, Name, State of Incorporation, Type, and it’s Standing (Good or Inactive). Click on the Corporate ID Number to see further information.

Step 4 – You have now reached the Entity Details Page and are able to view the corporation’s: Name, Incorporation Date, Home State, Status, Last Annual Report Filed, Type, Stock Info, Registered Agent Name, Registered Agent Address, Previous Documents Filed (Must type in ReCaptcha), and all Officers.
